Broad credit growth slowed sharply to its weakest pace on record last month. This threatens to derail the ongoing economic recovery and is likely to trigger additional policy easing. Increased fiscal support may help stabilise the situation in the near-term. But the big picture is that stimulus is no longer as effective as it used to be.
