A closer look at EM external financing risks

The sell-off in EM currencies has cast the spotlight onto external vulnerabilities in the emerging world, although there are important nuances to take into account. In short, they generally paint Argentina and Turkey in an (even more) unflattering light, but also suggest that external risks in some countries, such as Chile, are lower than the headline figures would suggest.
