We expect the Reserve Bank of Australia to follow up this week’s 25bp hike with additional policy tightening in the months ahead. Indeed, with growth set to accelerate further above potential this year, capacity pressures are likely to remain severe. Our base case is that the Bank will raise the cash rate all the way back to its previous peak of 4.35% as it seeks to slay the inflation dragon for good.
