Emerging Markets Roundtable - How much has the energy shock changed the EM outlook?

Capital Economics, 100 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 5JL

Speakers:

How much has the EM outlook been changed by the conflict in the Middle East and associated energy shock? To what extent will growth, inflation and financial markets return to pre-war levels with a ceasefire in place? Which economies will come out of this episode having gained most, and which have been most negatively affected?

Our EM economists will explore these questions and more in a special roundtable at our London office on Wednesday 13 May. This is your chance to hear our latest thinking on the outlook through this year and into 2027, ask questions and exchange views with industry peers.

In this one-hour session, the team will explore critical themes shaping emerging markets, including:

  • How the rise in energy prices has affected inflation dynamics, external balances and growth trajectories across EMs;
  • The implications for monetary policy cycles, including delayed easing, renewed tightening risks and where divergence is greatest across economies;
  • The key EM vulnerabilities to watch, and which economies are most exposed.

We are hosting two sessions at 09:00am and 12:00pm. You can register for your preferred session via the below form.
