While crude oil and natural gas prices have fallen as the US attempts to broker a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, we think that the impact of a formal end to the war on prices would be limited. Meanwhile, there appears to be some scope for crack spreads to fall back in the near term, but other issues affecting global refining capacity mean that gasoline and diesel prices could remain at risk of heightened volatility.
