Oil: what alternatives are there to the Strait of Hormuz?

Alternative export routes – pipelines and other terminals that bypass the Strait of Hormuz – can  probably divert 4m bpd of oil exports. Around 3mn bpd of flows have been diverted already, leaving scope for an additional 1m bpd. In total, that’s equivalent to roughly 20% of historical oil flows through the Strait, meaning that a large chunk of the supply shock cannot be negated.
