A closer look at Ukraine’s macro vulnerabilities

Ukraine’s economy as a whole is in a better position to weather significant capital flight and sharp falls in the hryvnia than at any point in the past decade. But even so, there are key pockets of vulnerability that could be exposed if there is a major deterioration in risk appetite. In particular, a disorderly exchange rate adjustment would raise concerns about the sustainability of the sovereign debt position.
