The delayed September PCE data showed that monthly core price growth was only marginally above the target-consistent rate, with the annual core inflation rate edging back down to 2.8%. Real consumption was little changed in September as we anticipated, but the larger-than-expected downward revision to spending in August leaves our third-quarter GDP estimate a touch softer at 3.7% annualised.
