Hungary Interest Rate Announcement (Apr.)

The communications accompanying the decision by the Hungarian central bank (MNB) to opt for a smaller 50bp cut to its base rate today, to 7.75%, provides support to our view that its monetary easing cycle is entering a slower phase. We expect 50bp rate cuts at the next two meetings, and that the easing cycle will then slow further in the second half of this year.
