New Home Sales (Mar.)

The impact of the coronavirus on the housing market was made clear in March new home sales, which saw the largest month-on-month fall in over six years. Subdued mortgage applications point to a further decline in April and, with large parts of the country still under lock-down, we expect sales will bottom out in May at around 350,000 annualised, down 40% from a year earlier.
