BCRA measures no silver bullet, team Amlo discord

Measures announced by Argentina’s central bank last night appear to have supported the peso today, but the currency will remain vulnerable to large falls, particularly as October’s presidential election approaches. Meanwhile, signs of discord between Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his economic team over the building of an oil refinery are likely to keep political risks elevated.
