Reform boost for Vietnam, regional growth slows

The opening up of Vietnam’s economy has gathered pace over the pace couple of months, with the government pressing ahead with a series of reforms which should boost the country’s economic prospects. Regional growth looks to have slowed in Q3. Of the six countries to have reported GDP data for the third quarter, growth slowed in all of them. Finally, the trade deficit of the Philippines widened to a nine-month high in September. But this should not be seen as a sign the economy is overheating.
