The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) left the repo rate at 7.00%, but the decision was split with some MPC members voting for another cut. And with growth still sluggish, inflation weak, and inflation expectations coming down, it won’t be long before the easing cycle resumes. We remain comfortable with our view that the repo rate will be lowered to a below-consensus 5.75% by the end of next year.
