Wait and see …

The lukewarm market reaction to the signing of the Phase One trade deal between the US and China lends weight to our view that an agreement had already been priced by commodities markets. For our part, we think that China is unlikely to meet its US commodity import commitments in full. That said, Beijing is likely to place some big orders over the next two years, which will come as a bane for non-US commodity producers.
