Carmakers slashing prices in response to US tariffs

There are signs that Japanese carmakers are reducing their prices in the US to retain market share, which seems to vindicate the Bank of Japan’s concerns that US tariffs will weigh on corporate profits. Even so, we still expect firms to grant another large pay hike in next year’s spring wage negotiations.
