The decision by the Hungarian central bank to cut its base rate by 25bp today, to 6.25%, will likely be followed by further interest rate cuts over the coming months. We will firm up our new forecast after the post-meeting communications, but our current working assumption is that the base rate will be lowered to 5.50% by end-2026 (previously 6.00%).
