Russia-Ukraine, Israel’s blockbuster GDP, EU funds

Russia-Ukraine tensions dominated the headlines again this week and all of our research on the global implications, Ukraine's economy and the rest of the region can be found here. Meanwhile, incredibly strong Q4 GDP data released out of Israel this week pushed the positive output gap to its highest level in two decades and supports the case for an interest rate hike in April. Finally, the ECJ ruling that the EU can withhold funds from member states who violate the rule of law puts pressure on Poland and Hungary to defuse the conflict and address concerns about institutional standards.
