The inverse relationship between risky assets and the US dollar has been unusually strong over the past couple of months. That is likely to continue as long as energy supply risks remain the key driver in financial markets – in other words, until there is a clear resolution to the US-Iran war and shipping in the Straits of Hormuz returns towards normal.
