Inflation trouble

The slowdown in underlying inflation in the third quarter didn’t come as a shock to the RBA. But the bigger picture is that market forces are still keeping inflation subdued. And with early signs that households are responding to the slump in the housing market by restraining spending, we think that inflation won’t return into the RBA’s 2-3% target band anytime soon.
