Should we be worried about rising loan losses?

Loan losses have remained low throughout the housing downturn but we suspect that they will pick up soon, driven by higher write-offs on corporate loans. However, loan losses tend to lag changes in lending standards. With the Royal Commission now behind us, banks seem to be loosening lending standards yet again, lowering the risk that the economy will slip into recession.
