US International Trade (Jun 2025)

The narrowing of the trade deficit was mainly due to a normalisation in pharmaceutical imports and while exports appeared weak, this was primarily due to a fall in gold exports. The big picture is that, despite June’s fall, imports aren’t collapsing and are roughly in line with their levels last year. That said, with export orders weak, it seems likely that exports will struggle over the coming months.
