Duque on course to inherit strengthening economy

The victory for centre-right candidate Iván Duque in the first round of Colombia’s presidential election on Sunday was largely expected and, as such, has had little impact on local financial markets over the past 24 hours. Polls suggest that he is the favourite to win next month’s second-round run-off, and the latest data indicate that he would inherit an economy that is gathering momentum.
