Turkey: here comes the slowdown

The latest hard activity data from Turkey has been surprisingly robust, but more timely survey evidence and low-profile data suggest that a sharp slowdown is underway. Officials are reportedly preparing stimulus measures in a bid to prop up growth, but these would simply exacerbate Turkey’s economic vulnerabilities and could ultimately tip the country into a full-blown crisis.
