What would a global return to normality mean for Asia?

As vaccines are rolled out across the world and restrictions on economic activity are removed, we expect global consumption patterns to return to something like normal. Electronics exporters, most notably Taiwan and Vietnam, are likely to lose out. However, countries such as Cambodia and Bangladesh, which are highly dependent on exports of textiles, should benefit. In contrast, a return to normality remains a long way off for the region’s tourism sectors. This will hold back the recovery in Thailand and Sri Lanka.
