Korea: rise in female participation rate a welcome sign

Korea’s December labour market report published earlier this week show the country is making welcome progress in bringing more women into the formal labour force. Unfortunately, however, this recent progress may not last. Since his election in 2022, President Yoon Suk Yeol has taken a number of steps that could undermine the efforts of previous governments to get more women into the formal labour force.
