Emerging Asia Chart Pack (February 2024)

Our Emerging Asia Chart Pack has been updated with the latest data and our analysis of recent developments.

Economic growth in most of Emerging Asia is likely to slow in the near term as weak global demand and high interest rates weigh on prospects. With growth set to struggle and inflation likely to remain low, interest rate cuts are likely to come on to the agenda soon. However, with the US Fed unlikely to cut interest rates until its June meeting, we have pushed back the timing of when we expect regional central banks to start loosening policy. We think policymakers in Asia will start to cut interest rates around the middle of the year.
