Terms of trade most favourable on record

For Canada, the main impact of the Russia-Ukraine crisis so far has been to push up the terms of trade to the most favourable on record. That could lead to the Bank of Canada becoming more hawkish than many of its peers, particularly as there has yet to be an appreciation of the exchange rate that might act as a pressure valve for increased inflationary pressures.
