Slumping oil prices another headache for RBA

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) will hold rates steady at next week’s meeting and signal that the first hike is still some way off. With the downturn in the housing market continuing unabated and the recent slump in crude oil prices likely to push inflation further below the 2% target, we think the Bank will wait another two years before tightening policy.
