With underlying inflation continuing to surprise to the upside and domestic demand being propped up by a revival in private investment, we no longer expect the RBA to loosen policy any further. Financial markets have turned even more hawkish, as they now think the Bank’s next move will be a hike. However, we’re not convinced. While the economy is on the mend, there are few signs that it is close to overheating.
