Ringgit surge not a concern, Vietnam’s export boom

The Malaysian ringgit has extended its gains against the US dollar and is now Asia’s best-performing currency this year, supported by stronger-than-expected data and a central bank keen to hold rates steady. While there have been some concerns about competitiveness, the real effective exchange rate remains stable, and strong electronics demand should help exports stay resilient.

Vietnam’s exports to the US hit a record high in October despite tariffs, reflecting both the rerouting of Chinese goods and Vietnam’s growing role as an alternative production base to China.
