Some reasons to be cheerful on copper

The price of copper in US dollar terms has fallen by nearly 30% since the start of 2015. The catalyst for the decline in prices has been the slowdown in China’s economy and fears that it may experience a “hard landing”. Other factors such as US dollar appreciation and the prospect of Fed tightening also weighed on prices. In this Metals & Mining Watch, we briefly discuss what caused this year’s price fall and outline three key reasons why prospects for 2016 are more encouraging.
