Rising automation, excellent infrastructure and the migration of some productive capacity into the cheaper interior mean that China is likely to remain a highly competitive export manufacturing centre over the coming years. This will make it much harder for low-wage emerging economies, mainly in Asia and Africa, to grow quickly.
