Lower rates will allow sales to recover

The surge in mortgage rates to a 23-year high has caused both buyers and sellers to withdraw from the market, and total home sales to drop to their lowest level since 2011. While we’ve revised down our near-term sales volumes forecasts, our view that the Fed will cut interest rates much more sharply than expected in 2024 suggests sales volumes will recover next year.
