Saudi back in the US camp, for now

Improved relations between Saudi Arabia and the US since President Trump returned to office, as well as recent agreements in the areas of AI-related technologies and defence, mean that we are shifting the Kingdom into the “lean US” camp as part of our work on global fracturing. That said, there remains wariness on both sides. And Saudi’s strategic importance means that it will continue to try to straddle the geopolitical divide, keeping its alignment fluid. A tilt back towards China is plausible once Trump departs.
