Will the strength of the rupee be sustained?

Strong inflows into India’s equity and bond markets have been a key reason behind the strengthening of the rupee against the US dollar in recent months. But there are reasons to think that these inflows will cool, meaning that the rally in the rupee is unlikely to be sustained. In all, we think that the rupee will resume depreciating at a gradual pace over the coming years.
