UK budget not a sign of global policy loosening

The fiscal “giveaway” announced by the UK government yesterday has generated a lot of headlines, but it is trivial in a global context, or compared to the US stimulus. For advanced economies overall, fiscal policy is unlikely to be a major factor either boosting or dampening growth in the coming year or two.
