Should we worry about the slump in copper prices?

The slide in the price of copper in the past few weeks has added to concerns about the health of the world economy. But while it may provide further evidence that China’s economy is slowing, we do not think copper prices are a particularly reliable leading indicator of the strength of the global economy.
