The tech-led rally in the US stock market over the past month or so primarily reflects earnings expectations for semiconductor firms surging, with other firms – including other IT firms – gaining much more modestly. The earnings season so far has done little to change that and seemingly leaves the S&P 500 more reliant on expected EPS growth in one industry than it has been at any point in recent history.
