Export downturn worsens, Trump-Kim summit

The weak Korean export figures for the first 20 days of February that were published earlier this week suggest that the region’s export downturn is intensifying. Looking ahead, the highlight of the coming week is Donald Trump’s planned meeting with Kim Jong-un in Vietnam. Although little progress is likely to be made on the issue of denuclearisation, there could be some moves towards a peace deal between the two countries.
