CBE to pause easing cycle for a little longer

The Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) decision to keep interest rates unchanged last night for a second consecutive meeting suggests that policymakers are more concerned by the recent uptick in inflation than we had originally thought. As a result, we’ve pushed back some of the rate cuts that we had pencilled in for the coming months into the second half of the year.
