Ghana set to tighten monetary policy next year

The Central Bank of Ghana kept interest rates on hold today, but the tepid pace of fiscal consolidation and a weakening currency mean that monetary policy is likely to be tightened over the coming months. We expect 100bp of hikes, bringing the benchmark interest rate to 17.00% by the end of 2014.
