Powell takes centre stage

The financial markets will have one eye on President Donald Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week, but Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s semi-annual congressional testimony is likely to take centre stage. Powell, who has been a revelation as Chair with his plain speaking style, will be grilled by the Senate on Tuesday and House on Wednesday, on topics including the impact of tariffs, rising inflation, and the flattening yield curve.
