Danish central bank unlikely to tolerate further krone falls

The fall in the Danish krone to its weakest level against the euro since early 2006 has increased speculation that Denmark’s central bank will have to respond to maintain the krone’s peg. We agree that action is necessary but suspect that the Nationalbank will shy away from a unilateral rate hike until the ECB’s next step becomes clearer.
