Saudi projects, jitters over Lebanon, Egypt’s gas revival

Plans announced this week for a wave of megaprojects in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, add to the impression that the government is diverting its attention away from the bold reforms needed to improve the country’s long-run economic prospects. Meanwhile, Lebanese dollar bond spreads have widened again over the past couple of weeks as the government has failed to provide more details on its fiscal plans, something that we warned would happen.
