Saudi privatisations add to reasons for slow policy adjustment

The Saudi government appears to be moving towards privatising a number of state-owned companies which, although not a game changer when it comes to financing the budget deficit, adds to the reasons to expect the fiscal adjustment to cheap oil to be gradual. It may also bring medium-term benefits via greater private sector involvement in the economy.
