External vulnerabilities continue to diminish

The volatility in global financial markets in recent weeks has brought concerns about EM external vulnerabilities back into the spotlight. However, with the notable exception of Argentina, economies in Latin America are now better placed to weather either a sustained deterioration in global risk appetite or a rise in external borrowing costs than they were a few years ago.
