Brazil has the second largest rare earth deposits on the planet but negligible production. Interest in rare earth mining in Brazil has surged in the past couple of years, although it will take time, as well as more policy and financial support, for this to translate into higher output. Overall, we think it plausible that Brazil could become a mid-sized producer of mined rare earths, but it will probably remain at the lower value-added end of the supply chain.
