Wholesale Prices (Dec.)

Headline wholesale price inflation edged down in December. But stripping out the effect of volatile fuel and food prices, our measure of core WPI inflation rose last month. With reasons to think that core price pressures will rise further over the coming months, we remain of the view that the RBI will tighten policy much sooner than is generally anticipated.
