Policy turmoil starting to damage investment intentions

Trade policy uncertainty has damaged investment intentions in the US, Canada, Mexico and South East Asia. But intentions elsewhere have held up better and investment growth itself has yet to falter. We suspect that ongoing uncertainty will act as a drag on global investment growth over the next year or two, albeit partly offset by loosening financial conditions as policy interest rates continue to decline.
