How will AI job cuts influence office demand?

Tech occupations are the most exposed to the impact of AI, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that sector will see the most job losses. That said, a decline in the share of pre-lets to the sector in the UK suggests tech firms are growing wary of expanding their footprints too fast. Financial services and legal firms are currently filling the hole left by tech, but those sectors are also at risk from AI-related job losses. Alongside the shift to remote work, that implies office demand faces an additional structural headwind.
